Upcoming
Notice of Race & Entry Form
17th – 19th October 2025
Notice of Race
- The SEQBC Woodgate Championship Marathon will be held over two days. One day will be for short course races and one day for a Team Club Marathon that competes for the Perpetual Trophy
- The Marathon will include an opportunity for a relay of competitors
- The organising authority will be the South East Queensland Blokart Club Inc. (SEQBC)
- The 2025 SEQBC Championship Marathon is the primary event on the SEQBC calendar. The Marathon may take priority over the short course racing event, depending on the weather.
Taking into consideration the feedback from both SEQBC and other club’s members, there is a concern that some sailors feel a Marathon of 2.5 hours is too much for our aging members.
To this end the Marathon format has been modified to hopefully address these concerns. There will now be an Individual Marathon Race and a Team Relay event in the Marathon.
Each Team entered will be allocated a whip number. The Kart can then be swapped out with another Kart and Team Member as often as required during the Marathon as long as the whip number is swapped onto each Team Kart.
The aim is for sailors that would find a 2.5-hour Marathon daunting and not wishing to compete for that length of time, can now compete for as long as they feel comfortable and then swap out with another Team Member and still contribute to their Team’s overall score.
1. Rules
- The event will be conducted under the IBRA rules Edition 9
- Rule changes only to the extent permitted by IBRA Racing Rules A2
- These documents can be readily downloaded from The Australian Blokart Association website
2. Eligibility
- All competitors must be financial members of an IBRA recognised body through a member club. Evidence of membership may be required
- By completing and lodging the online entry form, the entrant undertakes to abide by the IBRA Racing Rules, the values of sportsmanship and the SEQBC Code of Conduct
3. Entry Form and Fees
Entrants should preferably use the online form at the bottom of this page.
- Entry Fee to all events over the weekend.

4. Classes/Divisions
- Racing will be conducted in the two classes, Production and Performance Blokarts for the short course races
- Weight divisions will apply to the short course races as per IBRA Rules Edition 9
- For the 2.5-hour Club Marathon the weight divisions and classes are being dispensed with

- The track surface is sand.
- Access to the racing area at the southern end is via the 4WD access or designated beach access tracks adjacent to Banksia Park.
- Event management vehicles are allowed on the southern end of the beach in the prohibited area. Other vehicles are confined to the recognised 4WD area to the south of the 4WD access.
- Access to the racing area at the northern end of Woodgate Beach is at the Esplanade at Woodgate Beach or opposite the Woodgate Hotel.
7. Marathon
The Marathon format has been changed due to the mature age of the competing sailors.
The duration of the Marathon is 2.5 hours.
Each club can have more sailors than Karts-Whip numbers. Each Team Kart entered will be allocated a whip number. The Kart can then be swapped out with other Team Members and Karts as often as required during the Marathon as long as the whip number is swapped on to the competing Kart.
This will allow clubs to change sailors during the Marathon for those who do not wish to race the full 2.5 hrs.
To allow this to happen, instead of the sailor being registered for the Marathon it is now going to be the WHIP NUMBER WHICH CAN BE TRANSFERRED from one Kart to another Club Kart.
There will be a pit area allocated for the safe change over for the Kart and sailor.
After exchanging the driver or whip number, a Kart can be pushed but is not to exceed the pit area to re-enter the race.
8. Scoring for the Marathon
The total placing for each club Kart over the line will be divided by the number of whips allocated to the Club giving an average. The club with the lowest points for the Marathon will receive the Perpetual Trophy.
10. Prizes
Line-honour winners for the short course Production and Performance racing in weight categories will be acknowledged at the Presentation Dinner. The line honours’ winner for the individual 2.5-hour Marathon, the individual Team winner, as well as the Club winner will also be acknowledged at the dinner.
11. Insurance
Only ABA Public Liability insurance is provided for racing following entry acceptance, however, deliberately negligent or reckless behaviour will nullify any claim.
